Filling a form
A line is still a question, and I think it should not be
Tax Forms fills a line when it can point at where the value came from — something you answered, something read off a document you uploaded, or arithmetic from the printed IRS instruction for that line. If it cannot, it asks. It never guesses, so a question is the honest outcome rather than a failure.
Two documents disagree and it has stopped
That is deliberate. When a value read off one document contradicts another, or contradicts something you told it, it clears the value and shows you both with their sources. Picking a side quietly is the one thing that would cost you the most.
I want to type a value it worked out for itself
Every line can be overridden. The audit trail records that you overrode it and what the computed value had been, so the reason is still there months later.
It will not let me export
Nothing exports while a line is open. Work through the remaining questions — or mark a line not applicable, which is a different thing from zero and is recorded as such.
Adding a form
I cannot find the form I want
Search uses the IRS product listing itself, so search by product number — W-4, 1040, 8980 — rather than by description. Searching costs nothing and needs no plan.
Adding it is not available on my account
Adding a form reads its pages and its whole instruction booklet with a model, which is one of the two things a free account does not include. See the plans. In the Windows app you can use your own provider key instead, and then it stays free.
The form has no boxes to fill
Some IRS documents genuinely have none: a notice that a form was withdrawn, a form filed through Pay.gov, or a flat printable page. Tax Forms says which of those it is rather than reporting an empty form.

Windows warned me about the installer
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows shows "Unknown publisher". Check the SHA-256 on the download page against the file you have — that is exactly what it is for.
Where is my data?
In one encrypted .taxforms file, in the folder you chose when you created it. Uninstalling removes the program and leaves that file alone.
Signing in does nothing
Sign-in opens your browser and hands the session back to the app on this machine. If your browser did not open, or the app is still waiting, close the tab and start it again from Sign in in the app.
It says a newer version exists
The app never updates itself. It only checks, and points you at the download page.
Account and data
Which plan am I on?
Your account says so, and lists what it includes. A plan change lands on your next sign-in token, which can take up to an hour — that page has a button to ask for a fresh one now.
How do I delete everything?
Deleting a form removes its answers, its audit trail and its exported PDF. Deleting the account removes all of that plus your uploaded documents and everything remembered between forms. What that covers, exactly.
Something else
Use the contact form on deb0.com and say you are writing about Tax Forms. Say which form, which line, and what you expected — that is usually enough to find it.
