Terms of use
What Tax Forms does, what it does not do, and where responsibility sits.

What Tax Forms is
Tax Forms is a tool that helps you fill in a US tax form. It transcribes what you tell it, reads values off documents you upload, and performs arithmetic that a person has written and tested against the printed IRS instructions.
It is not tax advice
Tax Forms is not a tax adviser, a lawyer, or an accountant, and nothing it produces is tax, legal or financial advice. It will not tell you which filing status suits you, which deduction to claim, or whether a number is to your advantage. Those are judgements, and they remain yours.
If your situation is unusual — or if you are not sure — talk to a qualified tax professional.
You are responsible for what you file
Tax Forms does not file anything on your behalf and is not an authorised IRS e-file provider. What you get is a document. Before you use it, review it line by line; the review screen exists for exactly that, and exporting is deliberately blocked until you have confirmed you have done so.
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of anything you file, for the answers you give, and for the documents you upload.
Your account
You need an account to use Tax Forms, so that your answers can be kept between sessions and reused from one year to the next. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; anyone who can sign in as you can see everything in your account.
Acceptable use
Use Tax Forms for your own tax forms, or for forms you are authorised to prepare. Do not upload documents you have no right to, do not attempt to reach another person’s data, and do not try to disrupt the service for other people.
Availability
Tax Forms is provided as it is, without a guarantee of availability. Services scale to zero when nobody is using them, so the first request after a quiet period may take a few seconds longer than the next one. Tax deadlines are yours to meet — do not leave a filing to the last hour on the assumption the service will be up.
Limits
To the extent the law allows, Tax Forms is not liable for penalties, interest, lost refunds or other losses arising from what you file. The tool is built to make a wrong number hard to produce and easy to trace, but the final document is one you have reviewed and approved.
